Buko Nero: Dinner

2008-11-18 13:24:05 UTC from varfie.blogspot.com

The second hardest part of going to Buko Nero for dinner is deciding between the mouth-watering specials. The hardest part, by far, is having to wait out that one month or so from the time of securing the reservation to actually getting to eat there. ...more

The Hardest Reservation in Singapore

One of my favourite restaurants is also one I rarely go to. And that’s because it’s harder to get a table there than any other in town. Not that it’s super-chic or anything. In fact, quite the opposite, Buko Nero is a small, humble 20-seater run (and staffed) by Oskar and Tracey, a lovely husband and wife team. Regulars book out most nights, and if you want to try this Italian-fusion “hole in the wall” (which is what “buko nero” refers to), be prepared to call 1 month in advance. ...more

Is it worth the wait?

The space is small but cosy. The white walls and soft lighting gives the place a warm and casual homeliness that you might even forget that you are in a restaurant. The food here is good, value for money and unpretentious. ...more

Buko Nero (Singapore)

Intimate, unpretentious and absolutely delicious, it's not difficult to see why this teeny tiny restaurant is so popular. After much cajoling (well, frankly, begging) of Tracy (who takes care of the front of house while husband Oscar cooks out the back) we finally managed to find four spare chairs at the last minute. ...more

Buko Nero, not quite Hotel HS Milton

What makes this place special is apparently, the fusion of Italian and Asian flavours that lace most dishes they serve. The fusion of flavours perhaps being a reflection of the background of the Italian husband and Singaporean wife team, Oscar and Tracy. ...more

With Buko Nero’s strict “No Photography” policy, I went with a single aim in mind - Enjoy. Oh and enjoy I did, every dish had a distinct layer and texture. There was not a dish that did not send big signals of “yummy” down my spine. The finale was the dessert, and it took the cake. It was light yet creamy, sweet but not cloyingly so. Perfect. ...more

This is a photoless entry cos the restaurant imposes a no-photography rule. Nevertheless I had to make this entry cos it is probably one of the more memorable restaurants I have been to this year. I don't know if it is memorable because of the yummy food or because of the long waiting list of reservation of this restaurant (A had to make a reservation 2 months in advance just so that R and I can eat here) or because A treated us to this meal! Btw thanks for the yummy treat! Plllleaassseee my turn next time!! Pleaaaseeee!!! Put time and place for our next makan outing. ...more

my first resolution for 2006 . check

I'm done with my first resolution of the year. So that's off my list. You can find out what the rest are here. YES. I got through to Buko Nero on the phone. The feeling of hearing someone say "hello" at the other end felt like I had won a million bucks (ok, I'm exaggerating but it feels like I won something, maybe $1000?). ...more
