A dinner at Le Saint Julien is always an elegant affair. Julien’s wife Edith is easily one of Singapore’s most charming hostesses. Her staff are also among the very best in town; they are polite, charming, never in the way but always on hand.

The French food here prides itself on being classic French and aims to recreate the “Bourgeoise” cuisine of Paris. My lunch however did not feature the heavy sauces that I usually associate French cuisine with, rather it was light which I was rather thankful for, if not I might have just fallen asleep at the desk after lunch.

The terrine was delicious as the turkey slices were not too dry (somehow I've always associated turkey with being dry...perhaps it was due to having eaten too many dry turkeys for Christmas). I especially loved the accompanying sauce as I'm a huge fan of capers for its tangy flavour.
